About
I am an Associate Professor in the Communication Systems department at EURECOM in Biot, France. I received my Diploma degree (Dipl.-Ing.) and PhD in Technical Mathematics from the Vienna University of Technology in 2002 and 2007, respectively.
I joined EURECOM in 2007 and worked on the open-source OpenAirInterface project ever since. I coordinated the development of the OAI radio access network project group, which delivered support for 5G non-standalone access in 2020 and 5G standalone access in 2021. I am a board member of the OpenAirInterface Software Alliance.
From 2023 to 2025, I was a visiting professor at Northeastern University in Boston, where I contributed to the X5G platform and the expansion of OpenAirInterface use in the United States.
Research
My research projects focus on massive and distributed multi-antenna systems, positioning and localization, and non-terrestrial networks.
Teaching
I teach an introductory course "Wireless Communications Laboratory" which takes an experimental approach to wireless digital communication using software defined radio communications. I also teach a course on "Radio Engineering" that combines theory and hands-on labs to develop students’ ability to design, analyze, and optimize modern wireless systems, covering RF components and architectures, propagation, and cellular-network design.
